On November 25, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga of Japan in Tokyo.

Wang Yi expressed, the improvement and development of China-Japan relations is of great significance to China and Japan, the region and the world at large. In June this year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met successfully in Osaka and reached important consensus on building China-Japan relations that fit the needs of the new era. Both sides should take concrete actions and make unremitting efforts to this end. It is hoped that the Japanese side will meet the Chinese side halfway to create a harmonious and sound environment for the two countries' major political and diplomatic agendas in the next stage.

Yoshihide Suga said, the Japanese side is ready to work with the Chinese side to make careful preparations for President Xi Jinping's state visit to Japan next spring, so as to make it an important opportunity for building Japan-China relations in the new era and send a positive signal to the international community that Japan and China are cooperating in addressing international and regional challenges.
