The International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing China Successfully Concludes Li Keqiang Attends the Closing Ceremony

On the evening of October 10, 2019, the closing ceremony of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing China was grandly held in Yanqing, Beijing. Premier Li Keqiang attended and addressed the function.

On the evening of the same day, there were song and dance performances at the brightly illuminated Guirui Theatre, the main venue for the closing ceremony of the Expo.

At 19:38, Li Keqiang and foreign leaders including Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare of Solomon Islands, Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong of Cambodia, First Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov of Kyrgyzstan and Deputy Prime Minister Hajibala Ibrahim oglu Abutalibov of Azerbaijan jointly entered the venue in a cheerful melody. They waved to the audience amid warm applause.

In his speech, Li Keqiang expressed congratulations on the success of the Expo and appreciation to friends from across the world for their support and participation on behalf of the Chinese government and people. He said, this Expo, under the theme of "Live Green, Live Better", has been a spectacular and fruitful event. At the opening ceremony, President Xi Jinping called for a joint endeavor in building a better homeland and a community with a shared future for mankind. The Expo has celebrated the achievements of green development by different countries and cultures, and has boosted cultural exchanges, friendship and green cooperation among participating countries. The Expo has showcased the latest progress of innovation in science and technology, heralding a bright future of green technology application. The Expo has provided up-close experiences with Mother Nature. Here, visitors from China and abroad have seen with their own eyes how environmental protection and development advance in parallel, and humans and nature coexist in harmony.

Li Keqiang pointed out, in the past seven decades since the founding of the People's Republic of China, with the hard work and fortitude of the Chinese people, China has made historic progress in economic and social domains and in ecological conservation. China remains the biggest developing country in the world. We will continue to put economic development front and center, and promote development as the underpinning force for tackling all challenges. We will stick to a holistic approach to pursue both high-quality economic development and high-standard environmental protection through reform and opening-up.

We will consistently pursue green development by accelerating the shift of the growth model and improving our economic structure. We will foster new drivers of growth at a faster pace, and boost the development of energy-saving and environment-friendly industries and a circular economy.

We will work to deliver a greener and better life to the people by resolutely tackling pollution. We will improve the living environment, push forward the protection and restoration of key ecosystems, and provide the people with a more beautiful and livable environment.

We will further enhance green cooperation. We will continue to support and follow a multilateral approach, stick to the principles of common but differentiated responsibilities, equity and respective capabilities, actively implement the Paris Agreement on climate change, and join hands to promote harmony between man and nature and bring a better future to the human race.

Li Keqiang announced the conclusion of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing China.

The venue burst into enthusiastic applause and cheers. In the melodious tune, the flags of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) and the Expo slowly went down in succession. Later, the hand-over ceremony of the flags of the BIE and the AIPH was held.

At the closing ceremony, BIE Secretary General Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales and AIPH President Bernard Oosterom delivered speeches respectively. They expressed congratulations on the complete success of the Expo and spoke highly of the philosophy of the Expo: "Make horticulture part of nature; Let nature touch the soul". Highly praising China's ecological civilization and the building of a Beautiful China, they expressed their confidence that the world will achieve green, low-carbon and sustainable development of higher level through joint efforts of all the parties concerned.

Li Keqiang and foreign guests present also jointly watched a splendid art performance.

Hu Chunhua chaired the closing ceremony.

Cai Qi, Wang Yi, Xiao Jie and others were present at above activities.

With over 100 National Day and Honor Day events, and 3,000-odd ethnic and folk culture activities, the Expo attended by 110 countries and international organizations had welcomed nearly 10 million visits. From both the exhibition scale and the number of exhibitors, the Expo set a new record in the history of the A1 Horticultural Exhibition.
