Yang Jiechi Meets with Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah of Malaysia

On September 12, Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, met with Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah of Malaysia in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi expressed, the current China-Malaysia relations enjoy smooth development. Both sides should work together to implement the consensus of the leaders and take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship as an opportunity to advance cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, science, technology and people-to-people and cultural exchanges to make bilateral relations even better. Both sides need to promote together the regional integration process and realize the vision of the East Asian Community at an early date. We should resolutely support multilateral trading system and promote the building of an open world economy.

Saifuddin Abdullah said, the Malaysian side is willing to actively advance the cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and China and make concerted efforts with the Chinese side to safeguard free trade and multilateralism.
