On August 28, 2019, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov of Uzbekistan at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping asked Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov to convey his sincere greetings to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Xi Jinping noted, the key to the constant leapfrog development of China-Uzbekistan relations is that both sides always adhere to the spirit of good-neighborliness and friendliness, mutual benefit and mutual assistance and the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, and follow the concept of lasting friendship and common development. I attach great importance to the development of China-Uzbekistan comprehensive strategic partnership, which is in line with the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples. I am very glad to know that the positive achievements have been made at the fifth meeting of the China-Uzbekistan intergovernmental committee of cooperation, which was co-chaired by you during your visit to China. All the cooperation goals set by the two sides will certainly be realized as long as bilateral relations stay on the right track.

Xi Jinping stressed, both countries need to further promote the high-quality building of the Belt and Road Initiative, enhance synergy between national development strategies, make good use of cross-border highways and railways, strengthen connectivity, expand cooperation in economy, trade, investment, high and new technology, energy and other fields, and foster new highlights in people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The Chinese side is willing to increase imports of Uzbek quality agricultural products. Uzbekistan is welcome to attend the second China International Import Expo as the guest of honor. Both sides should work together to combat the "three forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism and fight against drug trafficking and other transnational organized crimes, so as to provide guarantee for regional security and development of both countries.

Xi Jinping emphasized, unlike what many other countries did in history, China will by no means follow the old path of seeking hegemony when it grows strong. The rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is to seek happiness for the Chinese people and will also make greater contributions to world peace and human progress. The Chinese side is ready to, together with the Uzbek side, enhance coordination and cooperation on international affairs, safeguard common interests of the two countries, uphold multilateralism and promote democracy in international relations. Both countries should work with other members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to raise the awareness of a community with a shared future and elevate cooperation in various fields, so as to promote further development of the SCO and benefit the people of various countries in the region.

Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov conveyed President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's sincere greetings and lofty respect to President Xi Jinping. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly congratulates the People's Republic of China on the 70th anniversary of its founding and sincerely hopes China will achieve greater prosperity and national rejuvenation at an early date under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.

Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov expressed, China is the closest and most reliable neighbor and partner of the Uzbek side. The Uzbek side will work with the Chinese side to firmly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has appointed the Uzbek side to set up a special agency to synergize development strategies with the Chinese side, actively promote cooperation in the building of the Belt and Road Initiative, expand non-governmental and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and deepen the traditional friendship of the two countries. The Uzbek side firmly supports the Chinese side in safeguarding sovereignty, security and unity, and will continue to actively work with the Chinese side to combat the "three forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism.
