2019-08-26 23:12

On August 26, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with a visiting delegation of parliament members of Japan headed by Seiko Noda, Member of the House Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan.

Wang Yi expressed, China and Japan, as important and unmovable neighbors to each other, must get along with each other in a friendly way, which is in the fundamental interests of the two countries and their peoples. The China-Japan relations are at a new starting point in history, as the People's Republic of China will celebrate its 70th anniversary while Japan has also entered the Reiwa Era. It is hoped that both sides will cherish the achievements made in the improvement of bilateral relations, consolidate the foundation, give play to respective advantages, shore up areas of weakness, and break new ground. While the current international situation is full of uncertainties and instabilities, neighboring countries should understand, support and help each other even more. We are willing to work with the Japanese side to intensify high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation in areas such as scientific and technological innovation, medical care, health and wellness, and environmental protection, and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges between young people to ensure the continued development momentum of bilateral relations.

Wang Yi said, all parliament members present here are important politicians in Japan and have made positive contributions to the friendship between the two countries over the years. In the history of China-Japan relations, no matter what difficulties have occurred in our exchanges, there have always been a number of important forces from various circles of Japan that are committed to friendship with China. It is precisely because of the unswerving efforts of both sides that bilateral relations have overcome difficulties and returned to the healthy track. I hope and believe that you will continue to make new contributions to China-Japan friendship and peace and prosperity in Asia.

Seiko Noda and other Japanese parliament members noted, the current world situation is undergoing major changes. Japan-China relations are of paramount importance to regional and world peace and stability. The two countries must make joint efforts to promote bilateral relations for constant development. The Japanese side is willing to cope with the current challenges with the Chinese side by enhancing bilateral exchanges at all levels, including by giving play to the role of female politicians.
