Xi Jinping Arrives in Moscow for a State Visit to the Russian Federation

On June 5, 2019 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow by a special plane, starting his State Visit to the Russian Federation.

At 12:00 at noon local time, Xi Jinping's special plane arrived at Moscow Vnukovo Airport. When Xi Jinping walked out of the cabin door, he was warmly welcomed by senior officials of the Russian government beside the ramp.

The Russian side held a welcome ceremony for President Xi Jinping at the airport. The military band played the national anthems of China and Russia. Xi Jinping inspected the honor guard of the three services and the march-past.

On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, President Xi Jinping extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the Russian government and the people. Xi Jinping emphasized that China and Russia will embrace the historic moment of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship this year. Thanks to the joint efforts from both sides, China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination is now at its best in history, serving as a model of harmonious coexistence and win-win cooperation between major countries and neighboring countries. China and Russia enjoy strong political mutual trust, maintain sound mechanisms of high-level exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and keep close coordination in global affairs, playing a positive and constructive role in safeguarding peace and stability of the region and the world as well as international fairness and justice.

Xi Jinping pointed out, after standing the test of changing circumstances over the past 70 years, China-Russia relations are increasingly mature, stable and resilient, adding that bilateral relations are at a new historical starting point with a new historic opportunity. During the visit, I will exchange views with President Vladimir Putin on how to deepen bilateral relations and promote practical cooperation, and over major international and regional issues of common concern. We will plan for the future development of bilateral relations to push forward the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination to a new era of greater development at a higher level.

Ding Xuexiang, Yang Jiechi, Wang Yi, He Lifeng and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

H.E. Li Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia, also greeted President Xi Jinping at the airport.

During the visit, Xi Jinping will also travel to St. Petersburg to attend the 23rd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
