2019-05-21 20:00

On May 20, 2019 local time, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the presidential palace in Dushanbe.

Emomali Rahmon asked Wang Yi to convey his warm greetings to President Xi Jinping. He said that developing relations with China has always been a priority of Tajikistan' diplomacy. As comprehensive strategic partners, Tajikistan and China have achieved unprecedented heights in cooperation in all fields in recent years and can absolutely strengthen cooperation in the process of building a community with a shared future for mankind. The Tajik side warmly welcomes and expects President Xi Jinping's attendance at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia and state visit to Tajikistan in June, and appreciates the Chinese side for contributing to the preparations of the conference. The Tajik side is willing to further align its national development strategy for the period up to 2030 with the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthen bilateral practical cooperation in areas including economy, trade, agriculture, science and technology, people-to people and cultural engagement, and infrastructure construction for the benefit of the two peoples. The Tajik side extends gratitude to the Chinese side for helping the development of Tajikistan and welcomes more Chinese companies to invest and develop business in Tajikistan. The Tajik side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs with the Chinese side and jointly combat the "three forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and transnational organized crimes. The Tajik side fully supports the Chinese side's efforts to maintain security and stability in Xinjiang.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to Emomali Rahmon. Wang Yi said that Mr. President's attendance at the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in China last month and talks with President Xi Jinping have injected new dynamism into the development of the relations between two countries. My visit this time aims to well implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and prepare for the high-level exchanges of both sides in the next stage with the Tajik side. Building a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping has been widely recognized by the international community. As comprehensive strategic partners, China and Tajikistan have formed a "four good" relationship - good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners, and should take a lead in building a community with a shared future for mankind. The Chinese side will continue to firmly support the domestic and foreign policies implemented by the Tajik side for maintaining its national independence, sovereignty and security, and firmly support the efforts the Tajik side has made for developing economy and improving people's livelihood. The Chinese side supports Tajikistan in advancing the four major development strategies of energy, transportation, food and industrialization, and is willing to make a comprehensive alignment between the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the national development strategies of Tajikistan to provide assistance for the modernization of Tajikistan. China and Tajikistan should further deepen cooperation in combating the "three forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, transnational organized crime and other areas.

On the same day, Wang Yi also held talks with Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin Aslov of Tajikistan.
