Senior Chinese official meets Pakistani Foreign Minister

BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi here Wednesday.

Yang, also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, said that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners, and that cooperation between the two countries not only brings benefits to the two peoples, but also contributes to regional stability and prosperity.

Facing the complex and changing international and regional situations, the two sides should strengthen strategic communication and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, Yang said, adding that China was willing to maintain high-level exchanges with Pakistan, promote the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and strengthen communication and coordination on major international and regional issues.

Qureshi said China is Pakistan's most trusted friend, and that the first strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers of Pakistan and China has yielded fruitful results.

Pakistan will continue to work with China to actively implement the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and promote the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
