Yang Jiechi Meets with Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Reyes Maroto of Spain

On October 25, 2018, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi met in Beijing with Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Reyes Maroto of Spain.

Yang Jiechi expressed that China and Spain enjoy traditional friendship. Last year, President Xi Jinping had a successful meeting with King Felipe VI, and they reached broad consensus, charting the course for the development of China-Spain relations. The Chinese side highly appreciates Spain for attaching importance to developing relations with China and actively participating in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Both sides should well implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, cement exchanges at all levels and in various fields, enhance the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with Spain's development strategy, deepen practical cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, trade, investment and tourism, and continuously enrich the connotation of China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership, so as to benefit the two peoples.

Reyes Maroto expressed that Spain is willing to, together with the Chinese side, intensify high-level exchanges and deepen practical cooperation in such fields as economy, trade and tourism. Highly appreciating China's commitment to expanding opening up, Spain looks forward to participating in the first China International Import Expo, in a bid to further tap into huge cooperation potential between the two countries.
