(March 22, 2013) Mr. Pan Gongsheng, Deputy Governor of the People's Bank of China, On behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago, I wish to extend our warmest congratulations on the grand opening of Bank of China Chicago Branch. This is not only an important event for the business expansion of Bank of China, but also a significant development in the trade and economic cooperation between China and the city of Chicago as well as the whole Midwest. In addition, this is also a good testimony to the strong interests of the Chinese enterprises in strengthening their business relations with Chicago and the Midwest, one of the very important economic, commercial and financial centers of the United States. Through meetings and traveling since I became the Chinese Consul General to Chicago, I have been deeply impressed with the great passion among the Government leaders of Chicago and the Midwest as well as among the business community and other sectors of the society for deepening economic cooperation with China. And I have further realized that there do exist huge potential for our bilateral cooperation. I strongly believe that the launch of Bank of China Chicago Branch is a right decision of strategic vision by the leadership of the Bank. I also believe that the presence of Bank of China in Chicago will give an impetus to further strengthening China's business relations with the whole Midwest. As the Chinese Consul General to Chicago, I am proud of the opening of Bank of China Chicago Branch. We in the Consulate stand ready to provide our assistance wherever we can. In closing, I sincerely wish Bank of China Chicago Branch great success, and the trade and economic cooperation between China and the Midwest even greater growth in the years to come. Thank you. |
